POCONO
MAN SCORES $50,000 ON 99.9 THE HAWK JACKPOT MACHINE
Bethlehem,
PA (August 6, 2009) -- When Troy Strunk of East Stroudsburg
made his annual trek to Musikfest 2009 in Bethlehem with
his fiancée and family, he figured he’d enjoy
a nice sunny day, catch some live music, consume some tasty
food, and maybe wash it down with a cold beer or two.
So when
he happened upon the 99.9 The Hawk/Desmond Pools & Spas
$50,000 Jackpot Machine, did he really think he was going
to hit it big?
“Normally my luck is not that good,” stated
Troy. “I always felt I had a black cloud hanging over
my head. Well, I guess the black cloud parted.”
After
patiently waiting in line for his free spin, Troy couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the three red
amounts that lined up in a row on the machine’s reels.
$50,000 -- $50,000 -- $50,000. Troy’s life had just
changed. A $50,000 win will do that.
Troy
Strunk has worked as a carpenter at Blair Academy in Blairstown,
NJ
for the past twelve years, and like a lot
of folks, economic times have been challenging for him and
his family. “I’ve been draining my savings account
just paying some of the bills…it’s been kind
of tough lately. This money is a godsend!”
So what’s
Troy going to do with his huge windfall?
“Well first of all, it will pay for the wedding,” he
mused. Troy and his fiancée Shelly had already planned
on getting married on June 19th, 2010. “And I’ve
got two kids, so the money helps them too.” Troy is
the proud father of daughters Ashley, 16, and Kayleah, 4. “And,
if there’s any money leftover, I might get a truck,” he
said hopefully.
Turns
out Troy had visited “Hawkplatz” at Musikfest
annually since its inception. Every year, he would wait in
line and take his turn on the jackpot machine. “One
year, I think I won a free oil change”, he joked. “But
this is a whole lot better!”
Representatives
from 99.9 The Hawk, along with Desmond Pools and Spas (who
sponsored this year’s jackpot machine),
will present a check for $50,000 to Troy and his family at
5:00 pm on Sunday, August 9th at Musikfest’s Banana
Island.
Throughout
the ten day event, thousands of Musikfest patrons stroll
through
99.9 The Hawk’s misting tent, built
by Energy Savings Solutions, to try their hand at the jackpot
machine. In addition to Troy Strunk winning the grand prize
of $50,000, visitors have won countless gift certificates
to local restaurants and prizes from other local establishments.
The grand prize of $50,000 is the largest monetary prize
ever awarded by the Classic Hits station, and also ranks
as the biggest cash prize ever awarded in the history of
Lehigh Valley radio.
