Nassau’s
1490 WEMJ Targets Local Tourism with the Launch of “Visitor
Information Radio 1490 AM”
Laconia,
NH – Nassau Broadcasting announced today that
it had launched an exciting new format and venture
on its station WEMJ 1490 AM in Laconia, New Hampshire.
On November 1, 2005 and with the support of the Greater
Laconia/Weirs Beach Chamber Of Commerce, WEMJ became
the region's first "Visitor Information Radio
1490 AM".
This
new radio station will feature vignettes aimed at the area’s
lucrative tourist industry. Visitors arriving into the
Lakes Region will find out about the area’s restaurants,
shopping, hotels, tourist attractions, resorts, area history
and more.
WEMJ
will offer National and local news twice an hour, and local
weather every ten minutes.
Speaking
about the concept of the new format, Nassau Broadcasting’s
Market Manager for the Lakes Region, Robert Fulmer said, “The
new Visitor Information Radio 1490 AM presents a unique
opportunity for the local advertising community. For the
first time ever, there will be a radio station speaking
directly to the significant number of tourists visiting
our area each year. Local businesses that cater to tourists,
or are interested in attracting tourists will have a clear
and powerful voice to carry their message. We expect Visitor
Information Radio to become a strong ally in supporting
this important part of the Lakes Region’s economy.”
Nassau
Broadcasting also operates Lakes Region Stations 98.3 WLNH,
93.3 The Wolf, Oldies 104.9, and 102.3/101.5 The Hawk.
