BROADCASTING’S LOCAL LISTENERS DONATED CLOSE TO
75K FOR THE AMERICAN RED CROSS HAITIAN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
DURING COMPANYWIDE RADIOTHON
Princeton,
NJ – On
Thursday, January 21st Nassau Broadcasting held a day long
on-air benefit to raise money for the American
Red Cross and their continuing Haitian Earthquake Relief
efforts. The radiothon began at 6am and continued through
the day to 7pm on all Nassau Broadcasting stations throughout
New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire,
Maine and Vermont. By the end of the day, thanks to the generosity
of local listeners and businesses, about 75 thousand dollars
was raised. Listeners were able to donate by phone or online
through each stations website. Phone banks were staffed by
the American Red Cross.
Throughout
the day each station had special on air guests. Theses
guests
included representatives from each local Red
Cross chapter, doctors on the ground in Haiti, first hand
accounts from local residents who were on mission work in
Haiti at the time of the earthquake, parents of missing Lynn
University student Christine Gianacaci, Haitian born Americans
who have families in Haiti, staff member from Children’s
Nutritional Program in Haiti who also survived the earthquake,
along with friends and family of people effected by the devastation.
