THE HAWK MORNING SHOW CREATES COOKBOOK FOR SECOND HARVEST
FOOD BANK
Easton,
PA - The Michaels and Layne Morning Show on 99.9 The Hawk
gave the listeners of the Lehigh Valley a double Christmas
present in 2009 – a great cook book and the ability
to feed the hungry. After asking for recipes from listeners
while adding a few of their own, Rick and Sam put together
the Michaels and Layne Half-Baked Cook Book. The book was
then distributed throughout the Valley with the help of
TopStar Express convenience stores.
Each book was sold for $5 with all proceeds going to the
Second Harvest Food Bank in Allentown, Pennsylvania. With
more books still to be sold, Rick Michaels and Samantha Layne
have already raised over $5,000. Published by Harmony Press,
each cook book came with a $5 coupon to Clover Farms Meat
Market in Allentown, which means anyone who purchased the
book for $5, received a $5 coupon right back and the joy
of helping those less fortunate.
Second Harvest Food Bank distributes about a half million
pounds of food and other grocery products each month. Nearly
200 member agencies rely on the food bank to help them meet
their participants' needs. Over the last few years, The Hawk
has supported Second Harvest through many ventures, which
includes a holiday food drive around Thanksgiving.
