6TH
ANNUAL STORIES OF LIGHT CAMPAIGN GRANTS 14 WISHES
FOR MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION
Portland,
ME – On
Friday, December 18th, after a three week run, the 6th
Annual Stories of
Light Campaign came to a close. For these three weeks 107.5
Frank FM helped Make-A-Wish of Maine bring hope and happiness
to seriously ill children in the community.
During
the campaign, donation from both listeners and corporations
raised a
total of $84,247. With the average cost of a wish
at $6,000, fourteen wishes can now be granted.
Every
weekday morning, Frank’s Place with Bill and
Heidi played an inspiring first person story from a
Maine child, family or wish granter. Listeners were encouraged
throughout the day to donate through Frank’s
website or at a designated drop off box.
Each
night, Portland’s fourteen-story Time and Temperature
Building acted as a visual thermometer for the amount
of money raised. The façade of the building
was bathed in blue light, with the Make-A-Wish logo
shining on the
floor corresponding to the number of wishes granted.
By the night of December 18th, the Make-A-Wish logo
was raised
to the 14th floor.
Seven
wishes were granted during the three week time span of
the campaign. Children
and their families
travelled to places like Disney World and Australia.
One child
had
their wish for a snowmobile granted. Another met
a favorite Boston Bruins player. Over sixty seriously
ill children
were waiting to have their wishes granted by the
end
of the campaign.
“
We have a special bond with our listeners and they’re
always willing to help when it comes to helping
children, no matter how bad the economy might be,” said
Frank FM afternoon drive personality Leif Erickson. “It
was a great honor to meet and interview some
of these children. They are so strong and so inspiring.
The least we can do
is to , in some way, bring these kids hope and
happiness considering the challenges they and their families
face.”
