FUN FOR FAMILIES
Barre,
VT– Over the
weekend of March 2nd, 2008, 107.1 Frank FM, in Barre, Vermont,
and Freezing
Fun For Families, held a fundraiser to furnish and maintain
a community Comfort Room in the new Central Vermont Cancer
Treatment Center at the Central Vermont Medical Center.
Frank-FM and Freezing Fun For Families organizer, Cass Bressette,
ended a six month long fundraising campaign with the 10th
Annual Co-Ed Softball Tournament. The tournament was held
at the Barre Recreation Field at the Barre Town School.
Fifty six teams participated in the tournament. In addition
of the $39,444 that was raised, electronics, furniture and
carpeting were also donated.
To get
the fundraising and tournament information to its listeners,
107.1 Frank-FM presented a triple play
weekend
that was themed around the tournament. On air personalities
reported live from the fields encouraging listeners to “Hit
the Ball Out of the Park” by making online donations.
Frank-FM Program Director and Morning Host, TJ Michaels,
also presented the “Co-Ed Winter Softball Spotlight”.
Listeners heard directly from families and patients who currently
travel out of the area to receive treatment about how important
the comfort room is for the community.
“At Frank-Fm we have supported the efforts of Freezing
Fun For Families for the past six years. The community support
this year far exceeded past years. It makes us proud to live
and serve the Central Vermont Region”, stated Michaels.
